Biography

Dr. Witzke is Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program and Director of the Latin-American Cardiovascular Program at Einstein. Dr. Witzke completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship training at Einstein Medical Center. He then completed two year training in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Disease at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard Medical School. At MGH, Dr. Witzke became competent in the performance of coronary intervention and mastered the management of extremely ill cardiac patients that required high-risk percutaneous procedures. Dr. Witzke has a special interest in the growing field of Structural Heart Disease. During his last years of training, he became specialized in the management of valvular and structural heart disease. He is sufficient in the art of percutaneous closure of heart defects, paravalvular leaks and management of varies valvular heart diseases, including aortic stenosis and mitral valve disease. Dr. Witzke is the leading implantor of percutaneous aortic valve prosthesis -also known as TAVR- in patients with aortic stenosis. He also helped develop Cardiogenic Shock Program at Einstein Health Network. Dr. Witzke has published in numerous journals and has participated in international meeting as an expert in the field of Structural and Valvular Heart Disease.
